North Korea’s Ninth Party Congress reelected Kim Jong Un as general secretary of the Workers’ Party on the fourth day of the ongoing event on Sunday, according to state media, in addition to finalizing the next Central Committee roster and agreeing on revised party rules.

In a lengthy speech praising the dictator ahead of his pro forma election, senior party official Ri Il Hwan defended Kim for committing to nuclear weapons development and resisting economic reforms in the face of severe international sanctions.
