North Korea showed off a massive new solid-fuel missile at a large-scale military parade in Pyongyang on Friday night, hailing the capability as the country’s “most powerful nuclear strategic weapon system.” The display of the Hwasong-20 intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), a missile previously teased by leader Kim Jong Un but not yet tested, took place during celebrations for the 80th anniversary of the ruling Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK) on Oct. 10, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported Saturday. Proceedings appeared to begin at Kim Il Sung Square late in the evening despite intermittent rain during the event. Kim © Korea Risk Group. All rights reserved. |
