KCNA Watch is an archival tool that helps journalists, researchers and policymakers study and access publicly available DPRK media in an organized and searchable format. Similar to the Internet Archive, our platform ensures that historical records remain freely accessible for long-term analysis and documentation.

DPRK state media frequently alters, deletes or restricts access to its own content, making independent study challenging. KCNA Watch exists to preserve the integrity of the public record, ensuring safe and accurate access to DPRK media in its original context.

Articles on KCNA Watch are 100% free for public access and provide direct links back to original sources wherever possible. Our goal remains to enhance transparency, accuracy and informed analysis of DPRK state messaging.

On KPM’s Concerns

In July 2024, certain content published by Korea Media Co., Ltd. (KPM) was mistakenly posted on KCNA Watch without authorization. Upon being notified, Korea Risk Group took immediate corrective action by removing the disputed content and issued a response recognizing KPM’s concerns.

We acknowledge that this resulted in the unauthorized use of KPM-managed materials, and we sincerely regret the oversight. Korea Risk Group remains committed to ensuring responsible archival access and avoiding similar issues in the future.

While KCNA Watch does not claim ownership over DPRK media and operates within the scope of publicly accessible archival work, we recognize the concerns surrounding the management of certain DPRK publications. We remain committed to addressing such matters with KPM proactively and in a constructive manner.
