North Korean leader Kim Jong Un toured the country’s first “modern” general hospital on Thursday and said it will open in October, according to state media, five years after his original deadline.

The Rodong Sinmun reported Friday that construction of the Pyongyang General Hospital has been “completed” and that Kim called the buildings “flawless,” but medical equipment still has not been installed.

It was Kim’s first public visit to the project site since July 2020, after he launched construction in March that year and demanded it open to the public by that October. His inspection comes after Russia
