Russia exports 2K tons of flour and corn to North Korea amid signs of shortages

Shipments come as two sides ramp up agricultural cooperation but are unlikely to alleviate food insecurity, expert says

Multiple regions in Siberia and the Russian Far East have supplied thousands of tons of flour and corn to North Korea since the start of 2024, according to official data, though an expert raised doubts that the quantities are enough to alleviate food shortages in the country.

At least five Russian regions have shipped over 1,270 tons of wheat flour and at least 1,000 tons of corn to North Korea in the first months of 2024, data released by Russia’s federal veterinary customs agency showed.
