North Korea cancels visits by European delegations at last minute, sources say

Expert says cancellation of trips to check facilities suggests security officials don’t want return of Western presence

Delegations from several European countries that were poised to visit North Korea to discuss reopening embassies and aid operations recently had their trips canceled in the weeks leading up to the trip and even at the eleventh hour, informed diplomatic and NGO sources told NK News.

The DPRK called off planned trips by the foreign ministries of the Czech Republic, Germany and the U.K., according to multiple informed sources. Some of the trips were canceled in the weeks leading up to the visit, but others in the days before. One source said North Korea also canceled a planned visit by a Polish diplomatic delegation.
