Canada and New Zealand impose sanctions to counter North Korea-Russia arms trade

Designation of Russian entities follow sanctions by other Five Eyes members, highlighting coordination over Ukraine war

Canada and New Zealand have joined other members of the Five Eyes intelligence-sharing alliance in imposing sanctions to disrupt North Korea’s arms supplies to Russia, underscoring the group’s coordinated efforts targeting Moscow’s military activities.

In a press release announcing its new designations on Tuesday, Canada’s foreign ministry said it has sanctioned two Russian individuals and six entities as part of a coordinated response to Russia’s war against Ukraine.
