North Korea fired “multiple presumed short-range ballistic missiles” toward the East Sea (Sea of Japan) on Monday afternoon, according to South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS).

The JCS said the missiles were launched at 3:01 pm. KST from an undisclosed location in the capital Pyongyang and flew around 186 miles (300 km) before landing in the sea.

Japan’s defense ministry also detected the launch of at least one missile at 3 p.m. KST, saying they splashed down before 3:11 p.m. KST after flying around 155 miles (250 km) at a maximum altitude of 31 miles (50 km).
