US, ROK hold live-fire air drills on bombing North Korean targets

Training to intercept cruise missiles and strike artillery aims to deter DPRK from carrying out attacks, experts say

South Korean and U.S. fighter jets conducted a series of live-fire exercises with an array of different missiles and bombs this week, training to intercept North Korean cruise missiles and carry out precision strikes on enemy artillery, the ROK air force announced Friday.

The drills ran from Monday and Friday and were separate from the two-week Freedom Shield exercises that ran until Thursday, according to an ROK air force release.
