North Korea likely to carry out ‘provocations’ around US and ROK elections: NIS

Seoul’s spy agency says historical patterns and DPRK’s defense posture point to military and cyber activity in new year

North Korea is likely to carry out “military and cyber provocations” next year to coincide with elections in the U.S. and South Korea, Seoul’s spy agency warned Thursday.

In a press release, the National Intelligence Service (NIS) said it based its assessment on historical patterns of DPRK action around ROK elections and the country’s heightened military posture.
