North Korea launches military spy satellite toward south: ROK military

Launch follows failed attempts in May and August and comes hours ahead of pre-announced window

North Korea launched a rocket thought to carry a spy satellite on Tuesday night, according to South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS).

The launch appears to be Pyongyang’s third attempt to put a military reconnaissance satellite in orbit, after failed attempts in May and August.
