Three-day exercise focused on detecting surprise attack and carrying out preemptive strikes, South Korean military says

The South Korean army held large-scale military drills with the U.S. this week to enhance readiness against “North Korean ‘Hamas-like’ artillery threats,” the ROK military announced.

The three-day Joint Ground-Based Firepower Exercise ended Friday and saw a ROK-U.S. military task force train to detect and carry out preemptive strikes against surprise North Korean artillery attacks on the South Korean capital area, the ROK Army Ground Operations Command said in a press release.
