US calls out Russian, Chinese inaction over North Korean satellite launch at UN

DPRK defends space launch as ‘legitimate right’ during emergency UN Security Council meeting, as 13 members condemn it

The U.S. slammed China and Russia at a U.N. Security Council (UNSC) meeting on Friday for failing to condemn North Korea’s second attempt to put a military spy satellite into orbit, while the DPRK defended the launch as its “legitimate right.”

The emergency meeting held at the request of the U.S., Albania, Ecuador, France, Japan and Malta took place a day after the DPRK announced that it had failed to launch its Malligyong-1 reconnaissance satellite on board a Chollima-1 space rocket.
