Unification minister nominee grilled over calls for North Korea regime change

At confirmation hearing, opposition accuses Kim Yung-ho of promoting inappropriate ideas on YouTube and dodging taxes

South Korea’s opposition party grilled unification minister nominee Kim Yung-ho over his controversial YouTube channel and repeated calls for regime change in North Korea, challenging his qualifications to manage inter-Korean ties in a contentious confirmation hearing at the National Assembly on Friday.

Democratic Party (DP) lawmakers on the parliament’s Foreign Affairs and Unification Committee mainly focused on Kim’s YouTube channel, where he repeatedly spread fringe theories predicting the DPRK’s collapse.
