Greater sanctions enforcement necessary as engagement has failed to produce solution, former UN chief tells NK News

Former U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon urged China to take a more active role in resolving the North Korean nuclear issue this week, highlighting the importance of enforcing U.N. sanctions and lamenting the failure of diplomacy.

Speaking in Seoul hours after North Korea’s failed satellite launch, Ban said he is deeply concerned about Pyongyang’s ongoing nuclear and missile ambitions and that more diplomatic pressure is necessary.
