As China’s demands to Seoul multiply, hopes for cooperation on North Korea dim

Beijing reportedly issued 4 new conditions for improving ties last month, but Yoon is placing his bets on US and Japan

A top Chinese official reportedly delivered four new conditions for improving bilateral ties during a visit to Seoul last month, adding to a laundry list of similar demands that it has put forward in recent years. 

But despite the stipulations, and implicit warnings if South Korea doesn’t follow through, there’s little chance that Seoul will reevaluate its ties with the U.S. and Japan to get Beijing’s help reigning in North Korea.
