North Korea threatens ‘corresponding’ response to US-ROK ‘annihilation’ drills

State media slams allies for raising nuclear tensions with joint military drills and strategic asset deployments

The U.S. and South Korea hope to provoke a nuclear war on the Korean Peninsula and will face “corresponding responses” from North Korea, state media claimed on Friday ahead of what the allies’ largest-ever live-fire drills next week.

A Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) article criticized the upcoming “annihilation” drills near the border as the latest example of the allies “anti-DPRK” rehearsal for war under the guise of “punitive action.”
