A Swiss nongovernmental organization has published a new guide on how to recognize North Korean firearms, an effort aimed at helping sanctions monitors identify illegal arms shipments.
Small Arms Survey, an associated program under the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies (IHEID) in Geneva, states that the research will “increase the capacity of U.N. investigators and government officials to detect and interdict illicit transfers of small arms and light weapons by the DPRK and its affiliates.”
