Russia has sent thousands of tons of corn to North Korea this year from the far east region of Amur, according to the Russian government.

In a press release, the Amur veterinary customs agency said it took advantage of high yields this year to export 2,800 tons of corn to the DPRK out of a total of 130,000 tons sent to six Asian countries.

The statement represents one of the few data points available on North Korea-Russia trade since April 2022, when Moscow announced it was temporarily suspendingthe publication of regular trade data “to avoid incorrect estimates, speculation
