The South Korean government convened a high-level meeting on Wednesday to discuss response measures to North Korean “provocations,” including resuming air drills and the possibility of requiring the construction of new emergency shelters, according to the Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS).

President Yoon Suk-yeol presided over the annual Central Integrated Defense Council meeting with all 18 ministers and heads of 17 local governments in attendance, alongside military, police, National Intelligence Service (NIS) and fire department officials.

“Today’s meeting was held amid a grave security situation caused by North Korea having recently defined South Korea as a ‘clear enemy’ and bluntly
