Yoon reprimanded defense minister for failure to intercept North Korean drones

Senior presidential official says it was ‘frustrating’ to watch military’s response but that small drones evaded radar

South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol “strongly” reprimanded the country’s defense minister Lee Jong-sup for failing to intercept North Korean drones that entered ROK airspace earlier this week, faulting a lack of military training, a senior presidential official said Wednesday.

The top official who was inside the president’s situation room during the anti-drone operations on Monday recalled that it was “honestly frustrating” watching the ROK military try to take down the drones.
