Official 2023 North Korean calendar lays out contours of the year ahead

DPRK again excludes nuclear test holiday and Kim Jong Un’s birthday, while major army anniversary approaches

An official North Korean calendar for next year does not designate a holiday to celebrate the country’s largest-ever nuclear missile test, excluding “Rocket Industry Day” on Nov. 29 for a second straight year after it initially appeared on calendars in 2021.

The new calendar published by a government-run postal agency and seen by NK News also continues the practice of not identifying Kim Jong Un’s birthday suspected to be on Jan. 8 or designating it as a holiday, while confirming that Tree-planting Day will now be held at an earlier date in March.
