North Korea’s ruling Workers’ Party (WPK) will hold a major plenum in “late December” to review this year’s political and economic work and decide plans for next year, state media reported Thursday. 

Top party officials including leader Kim Jong Un discussed the plenum plans at a Politburo meeting held in Pyongyang on Wednesday, according to the Rodong Sinmun.

Kim said 2022 was a year of “adversity unprecedented in history testing our will and fighting efficiency,” but he promised improvements next year — the third year of a five-year plan the party established at the Eighth Party Congress in Jan.
