North Korea fires two mid-range ballistic missiles toward East Sea: JCS

First missile tests in month follow Kim Jong Un's on-the-spot guidance of new solid-fuel engine

North Korea launched two medium-range ballistic missiles (MRBMs) toward the East Sea (Sea of Japan) on Sunday, according to South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS).

The two MRBMs were detected between 11:13 a.m. and 12:05 p.m. KST at Tongchang-ri, North Phyongyan Province, and both traveled some 310 miles (500 km) before splashing into the water.
