US calls for Security Council meeting after North Korean missile overflies Japan

UN body unable to sanction DPRK after previous tests this year, may have ‘no effect’ after latest launch, expert says

The United States and the United Kingdom have called for a United Nations Security Council (UNSC) meeting to discuss North Korea’s missile test over Japan, diplomatic sources confirmed to NK News on Wednesday.

North Korea launched a suspected intermediate-range ballistic missile on Tuesday that traveled some 2,800 miles (4,500 km) into the Pacific Ocean, its longest missile test ever according to weapons experts and the NK Pro Missile Tracker.
