Families of detainees in North Korea meet unification minister for first time

Brother of one of six South Koreans in captivity says he called for Seoul to find out if their loved ones still alive

Family members of two of the six South Koreans detained in North Korea met Seoul’s unification minister on Friday, stressing that the Yoon administration should prioritize finding out if their loved ones are still alive.

Kim Jong-sam, the brother of detained South Korean missionary Kim Jong-uk, told NK News that he considers his meeting with Kwon Young-se “milestone progress” in the families’ efforts to attract government attention to the issue.
