The South Korean military should be ready to use “ultra-precision” missiles against North Korea at any time, Seoul’s top defense official has said, citing recent DPRK artillery drills near the inter-Korean border and missile launches.

Defense minister Lee Jong-sup delivered the instructions to field officers at the Army Missile Strategic Command on Thursday.

“North Korea continues to breach U.N. Security Council resolutions through ballistic missile launches and is also clearly violating the [2018] Comprehensive Military Agreement by firing artillery into the maritime buffer zone in the East and Yellow Sea,” Lee said, according to a ministry press release.
