Yoon floats new details of ‘audacious’ plan to revitalize North Korea’s economy

ROK president promises aid if DPRK disarms, but expert says Pyongyang won’t be interested without sanctions relief

South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol outlined new details of his vision to improve North Korea’s economy and soothe inter-Korean tensions if Pyongyang takes “genuine and substantive” steps toward denuclearization.

The president made the remarks during a Liberation Day speech in Seoul on Monday, saying his country could offer a “large-scale food program,” overhaul the DPRK’s air and sea ports, enhance agricultural productivity, strengthen health care infrastructure and even attract foreign investment.
