New U.S. Ambassador to Seoul Philip Goldberg said he will work to “deepen” U.S.-ROK security cooperation in his first official event on Wednesday, while South Korea’s foreign minister asserted that the two countries can resolve “security threats from North Korea” through their alliance.
The two diplomats’ remarks came at a welcome event for Goldberg hosted by the U.S. Embassy in South Korea, following his arrival in the country on Sunday, and echoed the U.S. and ROK presidents’ recent pledge to bolster military cooperation in the face of “North Korean provocations.”
