Yoon Suk-yeol vows to improve North Korea’s economy if it denuclearizes

But expert say it’s unlikely cash-for-nukes incentives move the needle in Pyongyang

Yoon Suk-yeol became South Korea’s 20th president on Tuesday, and used the occasion to highlight an “audacious” plan to help improve the North Korean economy if Pyongyang makes denuclearization progress.

Yoon mentioned North Korea four times in his inaugural speech – the only foreign country mentioned, aside from when he thanked foreign delegations at the ceremony.
