Yoon nominates Park Geun-hye’s vice national security adviser as head of NIS

Kim Kyou-hyun is also a career diplomat with expertise in U.S.-ROK relations

South Korea’s new intelligence chief will be former Park Geun-hye administration official Kim Kyou-hyun, President Yoon Suk-yeol announced on Wednesday.

Kim was tapped for director of the National Intelligence Service (NIS) after having previously served as a senior secretary for foreign and security policy as well as a deputy national security adviser and vice foreign minister under Park.
