North Korea may welcome U.S. President Joe Biden to the Korean Peninsula with an intercontinental ballistic missile test (ICBM) during or around his scheduled summit in Seoul later this week, according to a senior South Korean official.
Kim Tae-hyo, first deputy director of the presidential National Security Office, announced the government’s assessment during a press conference on Wednesday.
According to Kim, another North Korean ICBM or other missile launch is “imminent,” but he added that there is a “relatively low possibility for a nuclear test through [the end of] this weekend.”
