North Korea upbeat on COVID-19 outbreak as it reports declining fever cases

State media says authorities ‘flexibly adjusting’ anti-epidemic policy, with only one new death since Sunday

North Korean state media signaled a positive outlook on the country’s COVID-19 outbreak and national lockdown on Friday, reporting decreasing “fever” cases for a week straight and promoting an appreciation campaign for soldiers mobilized to help capital residents.

It also continued in recent days to urge farmers to battle against drought to head off food problems and construction workers not to delay major state-ordered housing and greenhouse farm projects despite the lockdown.
