Former DPRK policy envoy to join Yoon administration as vice foreign minister

Lee Do-hoon played leading diplomatic role under Moon Jae-in, helped broker first-ever U.S-North Korea summit

South Korea’s former peace and security affairs envoy who helped coordinate the first-ever U.S.-North Korea summit will join the incoming Yoon Suk-yeol administration as vice foreign minister, the president-elect announced Monday. 

Lee Do-hoon was Moon Jae-in’s top North Korea envoy from Sept. 2017 to Dec. 2020 and counterpart to Stephen Biegun during the Donald Trump administration.
