Top North Korean official riding around in possibly sanctioned Mitsubishi SUV
State media has shown Jo Yong Won exiting newer model white Pajero on several occasions in recent weeks
One of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un’s top aides appears to be using a newer model Mitsubishi SUV, NK News analysis shows, in what may be another addition to North Korea’s fleet of sanctioned import vehicles.
The new and frequent appearances of a Mitsubishi Pajero, built sometime between 2015 and 2021, suggest North Korea may have obtained the vehicle through secret trade networks despite domestic COVID-19-related trade controls and U.N. sanctions.
