Kim Jong Un’s birthday passed quietly over the weekend with no mention of the occasion from state media, the 11th-straight year the leader’s birthday has been seemingly ignored since his rise to power.

Kim, who is in his late 30s, may still be too young to have his date of birth formally celebrated in North Korea, one expert tells NK News. 

His birthday was not known to the public until 2014, when NBA hall-of-famer Dennis Rodman revealed the date by abruptly singing a happy birthday song to the DPRK leader at a basketball game
