Despite uptick in exports, North Korea’s trade with China sags in November: Data

Expert says DPRK appears to lack financing for imports, with low trade meaning even one shipment could impact numbers

North Korea’s exports to China rebounded slightly in November, Chinese customs data shows, but imports sagged and overall bilateral trade remained relatively low due to continuing effects from COVID-19 border controls.

According to the Chinese General Administration of Customs (GAC), North Korea exported $6.5 million worth of goods to China in November, up from just $2 million in October. Meanwhile, the country imported $34.7 million worth of goods from China, down from $39.8 million the previous month.
