Former prosecutor general’s victory sets up a contest against progressive candidate Lee Jae-myung in 2022 election

Former prosecutor general Yoon Seok-youl won the conservative opposition People Power Party’s (PPP) presidential primary on Friday, setting up a face off with the progressive candidate Lee Jae-myung in March next year.

In his victory speech, Yoon pledged to cooperate with the international community to denuclearize North Korea, though the political novice has revealed few details on the direction of his DPRK and foreign policy.
