North Korea launches apparent SLBM toward East Sea, Seoul says

North Korea launched a ballistic missile toward the East Sea on Tuesday morning, South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) said, adding later in the day that it appears to have been a submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM).

The South Korean military detected North Korea’s launch of “one unidentified ballistic missile” from waters in the Sinpho area of South Hamgyong Province at around 10:17 a.m. on Tuesday, according to the JCS.
