At least one Mercedes-Benz shipped to North Korea in 2019 despite sanctions

UN report shows North Korea-linked vendor also purchased three other luxury vehicles, with their whereabouts unknown

A Hong Kong firm shipped a luxury class Mercedes-Benz car to North Korea in late 2019, information in a forthcoming U.N. report seen by NK News shows, indicating that international sanctions haven’t dampened the DPRK’s interest in luxury goods.

An S-Class Mercedes-Benz was delivered in a shipment facilitated by Yee Fat Motor Trading Company of Hong Kong between Sept. and Oct. 2019, information provided to the U.N.’s Panel of Experts (PoE) by an unnamed Member State shows in the forthcoming report.
