UNICEF helping North Korea prepare supply chains for COVID vaccines

UN agency says it’s assisting cold chain storage and distribution as experts say DPRK can mass vaccinate

The United Nations Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) is helping North Korea prepare supply chains needed to store, distribute and administer COVID-19 vaccines within specific temperature ranges, the U.N. agency’s spokesperson told NK News on Thursday, amid questions about the country’s “technical preparedness” for a mass inoculation campaign.

The spokesperson also confirmed that North Korea has yet to receive “any” COVID-19 vaccines via the World Health Organization’s COVAX program or “through other channels.”
