The United Nations Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) is helping North Korea prepare supply chains needed to store, distribute and administer COVID-19 vaccines within specific temperature ranges, the U.N. agency’s spokesperson told NK News on Thursday, amid questions about the country’s “technical preparedness” for a mass inoculation campaign.

The spokesperson also confirmed that North Korea has yet to receive “any” COVID-19 vaccines via the World Health Organization’s COVAX program or “through other channels.”

“UNICEF is providing technical support to the [DPRK’s] Ministry of Public Health to advise on cold chain and vaccine logistics,” the UNICEF spokesperson told NK News.
