‘Substantial’ new evidence delays case of only North Korean in US custody

North Korea cut ties with Malaysia over extradition of Mun Chol Myong to US in March

Attorneys representing the only North Korean citizen currently in custody in the U.S. agreed to delay further deliberations until September, as prosecutors claimed they are pursuing “substantial” new evidence.

Mun Chol Myong was arrested by Malaysian authorities in 2019 for alleged money laundering on behalf of the North Korean government and was extradited to the U.S. in March 2021.
