North Korean leader Kim Jong Un made a rare visit to the Friendship Tower in Pyongyang on Wednesday to offer respects to Chinese soldiers who helped fight American troops during the Korean War.

It was only Kim’s second appearance at the capital’s main site commemorating China-DPRK ties following his visit with Chinese leader Xi Jinping in 2019. 

Kim “paid noble respects to the martyrs of the Chinese People’s Volunteers who dedicated their precious lives in the Fatherland Liberation War of the Korean people against the imperialist aggression,” the state-run Voice of Korea (VOK) reported on Thursday morning.
