Kim Jong Un stresses national defense in meeting with top military officials

State media reports meeting was required due to ‘fast-changing' situation around Korean Peninsula

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un on Friday guided a meeting of top military officials and discussed ways to set forth “important tasks” regarding national defense, the country’s state media has reported.

Kim reportedly said that the Korea People’s Army (KPA) must carry out the ruling Party’s line and policies on army building, as well as keep a “high alert posture” to defend the country’s sovereignty and security, the state-run Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) and Rodong Sinmun newspaper said on Saturday.
