Expanded NATO role in Indo-Pacific could drive China, DPRK together: experts

U.S. may not rely on China to address North Korea issues

Earlier this week, U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken encouraged the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) to “deepen” cooperation with its allies in the Indo-Pacific, including South Korea, as it seeks to confront “systematic challenges” from Russia and China.

While his remarks did not explicitly mention North Korea, some experts say Washington’s multilateral initiative to check China may drive Pyongyang and Beijing closer, potentially impacting denuclearization efforts.
