Wife by his side, Kim Jong Un urges women to be ‘eternal cooks’ for revolution

North Korean first lady makes rare appearance for event that celebrates “true daughters of the party”

The wife of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un made a rare appearance on state media Thursday, surfacing for the third time this year and attending an event that urged women to be loyal wives and daughters to North Korea’s ruling party or armed forces.

Ri Sol Ju, who is thought to have married Kim in 2009, appeared sitting next to her husband in a crowd of North Korean officials as she watched the families of Korean People’s Army servicemen put on a performance at Pyongyang’s Mansudae Art Theatre.
