The European Union (EU) extended sanctions on a North Korea-linked entity known to have facilitated global cyberattacks.

Since May 2019, the EU has been able to impose sanctions on individuals or entities responsible for cyberattacks, attempted cyberattacks, or those who provide support for such activities. 

About a year after that framework was established, the EU imposed its first sanctions related to cyberattacks in July 2020 on six individuals and three entities, including a North Korea-linked entity called Chosun Expo, for providing support and facilitating a series of cyberattacks.

“This latest prolongation is part of the EU’s scale up of its
