North Korea kicks off plan to build 10,000 ‘modern flats’ in Pyongyang this year

Kim Jong Un said the project will fix the “housing problem” in the capital city “once and for all”

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un reportedly kicked off a new urban construction project in Pyongyang on Tuesday, demanding that construction workers complete 10,000 “modern flats” this year.

According to the country’s state-run Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), Kim said that the project — slated for the southeast corner of Pyongyang — will solve an unspecified “housing problem” in the capital city “once and for all.”
