Nearly two years after nuclear negotiations with North Korea fell apart, a top South Korean official urged Pyongyang to return to talks at a high-level U.N. event on Tuesday.

Speaking virtually at the United Nations Conference on Disarmament in Geneva, First Vice Foreign Minister Choi Jong-Kun called on other countries to give their “unwavering support” in pursuing peace with the North. 

“We ask the DPRK to respond to our call for the resumption of dialogue,” he said. “In the course, we count on the unwavering support of the international community.”
