Hikers can soon visit one of the world’s most heavily-armed borders again

South Koreans will be able to hike in the DMZ starting Nov. 28, but only in small groups and on an application basis

Autumn is in full bloom, and tourists will soon be able to hike in the Demilitarized Zone and take in views of the fall trees along one of the world’s most heavily-fortified borders.

After a long African Swine Fever (ASF) hiatus, South Korea will reopen a hiking trail in the northwestern city of Paju on Nov. 28 after more than a year of closures, according to the Ministry of Unification. The scale of the tour, however, will be downsized for the sake of COVID-19 social distancing.
